Rodney McKenzie
(CA, BBS)

Background

Rodney joined Staples Rodway in March 2001 and has over twenty years experience in the chartered accounting environment.

Rodney's rural upbringing means he has a particular interest in the rural sector and enjoys helping farmers achieve their goals.

Rodney works closely with a number of equity partnerships, the largest milking 7,000 cows and producing 3 million kgms.

Rodney has published an article on the tax implications for equity partnerships in a national newsletter.

Working closely with a developing business, Rodney has helped take it from a one man operation to a business employing 7 staff and achieving $2 million in turnover.

Specialist Areas

Through his work with a number of large dairy farmers Rodney has developed considerable expertise in the options available for valuing their livestock for taxation purposes, and has been able to add considerable value to his clients.

Rodney's extensive knowledge of accounting packages enables him to develop and enhance the management reports received by his clients.

Rodney has also developed a wealth of knowledge on the challenges faced by farm equity syndicates, in particular the introduction or release of capital and protection of tax losses.

Personal Interests

Rodney has a keen interest in most sports and is an active member of his local Squash Club. Rodney is also a keen reader, particularly historical fiction.

Rodney continues to be hands on with an interest in a farm equity syndicate and can often be found milking cows or mending broken water pipes in his spare time.
