Trevor Chin
(CA, BMS (Hons), LLB)

Background

Trevor is a Tax Manager within the specialist tax team at Staples Rodway with over five years experience working with a diverse client base on all aspects of New Zealand tax law. He is professionally qualified as a Chartered Accountant with the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants (“NZICA”) and has also been admitted to the Bar of the New Zealand High Court.

Trevor is actively involved with the NZICA Young Accountants Special Interest Group which plays an important role in fostering the development of accounting professionals and promoting the profession to new entrants.

Specialist Areas

Trevor’s relationships with clients over the years have enabled him to be involved with assisting them on a diverse array of tax and commercial issues. Recently, Trevor’s specialisation has extended to advising clients on effective tax financing strategies as well as negotiating the research and development tax credit regime. His other areas of experience include international tax issues, restructures, IRD disputes and GST.

Personal Interests

Trevor takes a particular interest in contributing positively to society and is a volunteer ambulance officer with the St John Ambulance Service. He also enjoys swimming and outdoor pursuits in his spare time.
