Background
Roger Thompson joined Staples Rodway in 1994 and has been a Tax Partner since 1997. He became Managing Director in 2008. Roger is qualified both in law and accounting, and has practiced both disciplines.Specialist Areas
Roger has over 28 years experience in all areas of tax including international tax, income tax, GST and trusts. He is currently a member of:- Institute of Chartered Accountants of New Zealand.
- The International Fiscal Association.
- Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners.
And a past member of:
- NZ Law Society Taxation Committee.
- ICANZ Auckland Branch Taxation Committee.
Roger has been published many times in numerous local and national publications and is co-author of the CCH Book “A Practical Guide to Taxing Property Transactions”. He has also presented numerous seminars including presentations for the Auckland District Law Society, Institute of International Research and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of New Zealand, as well as many client and staff seminars.
Roger’s prior roles include:
- Associate of a national law firm.
- Periods with other CA firms.
-Corporate and taxation advisory role with a merchant bank.
- 3 years with the Inland Revenue Department.
