Gareth Hoole

Background

Gareth Hoole is a Director within Corporate advisory having joined Staples Rodway in July 2000. Gareth has accumulated over 25 years of experience, both locally and abroad, principally in the chartered accounting environment. He has had experience in auditing, taxation consulting, business advisory services and corporate recovery, mainly in respect of liquidations, receiverships, business turnaround and security reviews. Gareth has also written relevant articles for press publications and co-authored “Getting It Right”, a guide to business start-ups in New Zealand (published by Penguin).

Specialist Areas

He has an interest in adding value to businesses with solvency issues and assisting clients to realise their potential. Gareth is a member of Insol and is engaged in the area of corporate recovery, performance improvement, creditor compromises and managed workouts in Staples Rodway Limited. In this capacity, his focus is on businesses in distress, creditor management and compromises, banking relationships, financial workouts, liquidations and receiverships, together with providing practical long term business solutions.

Gareth also has extensive experience in conducting due diligence reviews where the purchase of a business is contemplated as well as carrying out limited scope reviews to assess strength of security and to limit risk exposure.

Personal Interests

Gareth enjoys a round of golf and going to the gym. He enjoys watching most sports, as well as travelling and reads extensively.

Gareth has significant experience in :

  • Conducting receiverships for security holders and liquidations, taking formal appointment in voluntary and court appointed capacities.
  • Corporate restructuring, business planning and the raising of finance together with financier work-outs.
  • Working with non performing and under achieving businesses in a turnaround capacity to help them improve performance and profitability.
  • Acting as trustee in bankruptcy proposals and creditor compromises.
  • Advising clients on taking security over advances and realising such security in enforcement scenarios, with specific expertise in the Personal Property Securities Act 1999.
  • Dispute resolutions, schemes of arrangement and offers of compromise.
  • Due diligence review for the purchase of business interests.
  • Risk reviews, investigative accounting reviews and business financial health checks.
