Our Business Advisory team includes top graduates through to qualified business advisors. Many are skilled business people in their own right or have extensive experience within particular specialities. Therefore, while a client’s primary contacts with Staples may handle most of their affairs, they can (and frequently do) call on the specialist advice of others whenever the situation arises. As a result, all our clients benefit from the combined experience of our different Units, and you get the exposure to a full realm of different work.
Our clients cover a broad range of New Zealand and overseas businesses including high value individuals through to multi-million dollar turnover trading clients.
As a Business Advisory graduate, you’ll be advising our clients on:

From Graduate to Director
“Like graduates of today, I had a difficult decision in making the choice of a firm I wished to work for. I decided to join Staples Rodway for a number of reasons including that I would be one of a few graduates starting with the firm rather than one of many and that I was assured that my promotion through the firm would be based on merit and ability rather than years of service.
From the time I commenced my career with Staples, I had the goal of becoming a director. Through the encouragement and support of those I worked for, and my own personal efforts, I have been able to achieve that goal.”

Our audit and assurance procedures go beyond providing an opinion on the financial statements.
To be effective, assurance work demands a deep understanding of our client’s business, its goals and the market in which it operates. Once we have that under our belt, we can step back from the raw numbers of financial statements to see the real business issues underneath. This enables us to identify real opportunities for efficiencies and savings for our clients.
Our client base includes a number of medium to large businesses operating in various sections in New Zealand and abroad. The diversity and the nature of our work will provide you with an excellent understanding of business operations. With our training and audit experience, you will have unlimited career opportunities.
We have a “paperless” audit approach and all our audit staff are provided with the appropriate technology to enable this. Staples uses sophisticated audit evaluation and analytical tools that help us identify risk and opportunities facing our clients’ businesses.
We provide assurance work for:
- Due diligence for mergers and acquisitions
- Prospectus reports
- Statutory audits
- Reports on compliance with Agreements and Regulations
- International Financial Reporting Standards
- Computer system security and computer application controls
- Software licensing audits
- Fraud investigations
As an Audit and Assurance Graduate, you will have completed your NZICA requirements and exhibit skills that will enable you to engage and work alongside our clients.

Finding the Balance
"Making the right choice as to your future employer can be difficult, particularly given the variety of options in the market place today.
Having spent ten years in a “big four” environment, I was ready for a change. At the top of my employer “wish list” was a progressive organisation who empowered me to achieve my goals. It was also critical to work with a firm who had a reputation for excellence.
Since joining Staples I’ve been impressed by the quality of work and clients. Work-life balance is embraced and a culture of success is promoted from the ground floor up.
I encourage any one interested in a career in chartered accounting to consider Staples Rodway."
