Staples Rodway was founded in 1945 in Auckland. From small beginnings, it has grown to be New Zealand’s leading independent accounting network. There are people with us now that started as graduates underneath the leadership of the original Mr Rodway and Mr Staples!

Staples, through its independent network, has regional offices throughout New Zealand in Auckland, Christchurch, Hamilton, Hawkes Bay, New Plymouth and Tauranga. We believe this regional diversity is an important part of our company culture. It offers graduates and staff the chance to work in some fantastic parts of the country, be a part of something that is Kiwi bred, while still maintaining international connections and opportunities.

Staples Rodway is an independent member of Baker Tilly International which has offices worldwide.

At Staples, you’ll have the chance to take part in a number of secondment opportunities. We have annual secondment arrangements in place for our people to Vancouver, Toronto, Chicago, Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney and also regularly second people to other parts of the United States and the UK.

With secondments you are able to experience what overseas has to offer, with the support of both Staples and your secondee company. You’ll be put up in accommodation, given a generous weekly allowance and a vehicle if it is necessary for you to do your job. When you consider that you’ll still be receiving your salary back home in New Zealand, it pretty much adds up to a great deal! All of this, with none of the risk of leaving your job!

As our secondment arrangements are reciprocal, you’ll also have the chance to meet other people from our secondee companies when they come to spend some time here at Staples.

The experience of going on Secondment

You will learn to manage your time, manage different projects, run your own team of accountants on different jobs, grow your technical accounting skills and develop strong client relationships while working directly with CEOs and CFOs on a wide range of businesses over different industries. Staples provides the necessary support to coach you through each stage of your development in the above areas while providing a good work life balance.

One of the unique aspects of working for Staples is the secondment opportunities available to you well before you qualify as a CA. With 3 month postings in Australia, the US, Canada and other opportunities provided via the international Baker Tilly network, you will gain international exposure and working experience and build international networks and friendships via the secondee program.
